Usually when your child brings home a history test from school you expect the normal questions. Who founded Quebec? How was Canada formed? Who was the first prime minister of Canada?
Below you will see examples of questions from a textbook being taught to children under the Commission scolaire des Trois-Lacs school board. The book is named Paysages.
What really caught the attention of this girl's mother was the following question and stunning answer by her daughter (translated):
In what area of Quebec was french most threatened? Explain your answer.
Answer: In Montreal because there are many immigrants.
Some of the other questions asked:
How did Anglophones react to the charter of the French language?
Does the charter forbid Anglophone schools?
If a Mexican immigrant comes to Quebec, what region would you suggest they settle in?
This textbook screams of segregation, nationalist propaganda and brainwashing. When the girl's mother asked for the answer key, the teacher flatly refused.
Please have a look at the below scans and let us know how you feel. We need this story to get out there, and the right questions need to be asked. Is this acceptable?
